Club News May, 2012 Coming Up
The Neil Christie Cup
Craziness comes to the Central Valley as the annual Neil Christie Cup will be played on Saturday, May 19th at Tracy Country Club. The field will be split into two Ryder-Cup style teams, which will compete in a variety of matches that feature best ball, worst ball, alternate shot, and a couple of scrambles.
Half the field wins, so in addition to the usual Closest to the Pin and Long Drive holes, there will be prizes galore! The Tracy Country Club layout has been recently renovated and should be in top condition (if the work has actually finished). We're keeping our fingers crossed!
This year it will be the first confrontation of Team Greg versus Team Mike. With no Christies in the field this year, the usual teams are out.
The Neil Christie Cup honors the memory of one of the founding fathers of AWA, who passed away in 2002.

Spotlight On.... Dan Degnon
We're thrilled to report that Dan Degnon, after several tense weeks in Intensive Care with that fragile heart of his, is up and moving around a bit. While he's still in a fragile state, we are thrilled to learn that Dan will be leaving the hospital and taking up residence at a nearby hospice. It won't be long until you're home for good, Dude! While we won't see him hacking it up on the golf course any time soon, but that day is coming, we're sure of that.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Danny as he continues with his recovery. And we hope to see that big smile and hearty laugh out with the gang again real soon. Keep that big heart of yours ticking, Danny!

Why Don't We Play There?
If you have any ideas for locations for upcoming club tournaments or have a comment about how we can make the club better, please let us know. Contact Mike Applegate or
Greg Brown for any club-related issues.
Keep in mind that we like to keep the costs as reasonable as possible. Even in this economic downturn, some courses have actually raised their fees for putting on an event like ours. Although there are a number of venues we'd love to stage, sometimes the cost may be prohibitive.
But keep an eye out. We love suggestions!
